Meet Kathryn

Monica G. Nettle Photography

As a human and a lifetime student....

My creative nature is appreciated by my family, friends, and students; how I think, problem solve, play, and how I teach.

I love a good question, especially if it leads to other interesting questions. I choose experiences that spark this curious side of myself, that propel me on the path of learning and off the "I know better than you" soap box.

My days are best when I engage in one small or grand adventure. And my heart is happiest when my adventures lead me to the unexpected. It doesn't matter if it it is a breathtakingly beautiful scene or a movement or idea that crystalizes into clarity because I've chosen a new route. I lovingly call all my adventures the best part of the day.

I also need down time, time to think, reflect and breathe. Creating balance in my life means taking breaks from my routine, and even setting something aside for a period of time while I ponder below the surface of my conscious mind.

I'm at my best when I don't block my connection to the collective energy of intuition. Connecting to my intuition means not overthinking or second guessing myself. I experience intuition as an undercurrent of dialogue happening at a cellular level.

I try to live as closely to the seam of intuition as I can, surfing the flow of effortless effort.

Fun facts...

my first love was science.

I found yoga while I was studying microbiology at the Univeristy of Wisconsin - Madison. At the time I suffered from chronic back pain, shoulder instability, anxiety, and a lack of strength, flexibility, and coordination.

Since then, through the practice of yoga, Pilates, and neurovascular release, my pain, shoulder instability, and anxiety have been replaced with healthy movement, balance, flexibility, and strength.

As a movement educator....

with a growth mindset, my teaching methods continue to evolve through the simple practices of curiosity, inquiry, and observation.

I hold in my heart, a deep appreciation for my students, their experiences, and the innate wisdom of their bodies.
